London Fields Remixes

Release Date: 30th May 2025

Label: Here & Now Recordings

Legendary house music producer Blakkat (New Order, Chaka Khan, A Tribe Called Quest) flips AJE’s Ensoul.

Mark Fox – emerging producer and DJ (under the wing of Fat Tony) and founder/host of the Strictly Vibes channel – reworks Locked.

Ambient Jazz Ensemble

Producer and composer Colin Baldry leads the genre-defining contemporary jazz orchestra, Ambient Jazz Ensemble, often compared to David Axelrod, Bob James, and Air.

Baldry launched his career in the heyday of music excess, producing and recording for iconic labels such as RCA, Geffen, Motown, Virgin, and Capitol Records.

In recent years, alongside composing and producing AJE albums for Here & Now Recordings, Baldry has arranged and conducted for The BBC Concert Orchestra and The City of Prague Philharmonic, and performed at private parties hosted by The Rolling Stones.

Blakkat on Ensoul (Remix)

"When I heard the original version of Ensoul, it was love at first listen! ... outdoors, in nature..."

Blakkat initially created a 'cosmic' influenced version, heavy on psychedelic effects. He later opted for a more boompty groove based on a kit he sampled from Mark Hollis’s (Talk Talk) Kurzweil library.

He also experimented with various analogue synths in his studio—some sounds even came from his young daughters playing with gear, which he recorded and edited. The final remix includes nods to Joe Zawinul (Weather Report) and Reese for its growling basslines.

"I definitely made this mix for me to play. ... it was everything I’d hoped it would be."

About Blakkat

Mark 'Blakkat' Bell, award-winning producer and founder of Shaboom Records, is a Mercury Prize-winning artist whose groundbreaking work with M People and remixing credits for New Order, Ladytron, and A Tribe Called Quest have shaped the electronic music landscape.

Blakkat has collaborated with house legends like Marshall Jefferson, David Morales, and King Britt, and his discography spans alternative rock (with Perry Farrell) to funk and soul (with Chaka Khan).

His releases have appeared on top-tier labels including Soma, Desolat, Ellum Audio, Ovum, Crosstown Rebels, Freerange, Hot Creations, Defected, and many more.

Mark Fox on Locked (Remix)

"When I first heard Locked by Ambient Jazz Ensemble, ... perfect for a Tech House banger."

Mark Fox chose to stay close to the original elements, paying homage rather than reinventing it. He added a vocal stutter effect during the drop for a euphoric, rave-inspired moment.

"It was a pleasure making a remix for this already incredible piece of music. Thank you!"

About Mark Fox

Mark Fox, a house and techno producer/DJ from East London, grew up immersed in UK festival culture. He started songwriting at 23 and later performed at Glastonbury with an acoustic-electronic duo formed with his cousin.

Now mentored by Fat Tony (multi-award-winning DJ and Sunday Times Best-Selling author of I Don’t Take Requests), Fox has become an energetic force in the UK club scene.

"Music is more than a hobby or passion—it’s an addiction. ... writing songs, or editing videos. I want to spread upbeat vibes through my music."

Influenced by the likes of Carl Cox, Chris Lake, Fisher, Nina Kraviz, and Michael Bibi, Fox was a raver before becoming a producer—an experience that shaped his musical direction.

He is known for reworking classic tracks across genres—from hip-hop to rock—and his remixes are played by Fat Tony at prestigious venues such as Fabric, Studio 338, and Hi Ibiza.

Strictly Vibes

Most recently, Fox reunited with cousin J Kolo to launch a YouTube channel alongside their label Strictly Vibes, showcasing DJ sets, original productions, and emerging UK talent in a vibrant community format.

The biweekly show features top-tier DJ and production talent from across the UK.
