Legendary Jazz and Funk pianist and singer Patrice Rushen received a grammy nomination for Forget Me Nots in 1982 the year of it’s original release.

Rushen’s recording career began 8 years earlier when she signed to the Prestige label as a teenager and went on to create 4 instrumental jazz and funk influenced albums before jumping ship to the Elektra label in 1978 and veering in a more R&B direction, releasing songs aswell. Notable highlights of this pre Forget Me Nots Elektra songs era include Music Of The Earth, Wishful Thinking, Settle For My Love and the much sampled Haven’t You Heard

Forget Me Not’s being the peaks of her career. Again in 1997 with Will Smith ‘Men In Black’ sampling for the popular movie (which cost $90 million to produce and grossing almost $600 million).

Fast forward 20 years and Forget Me Nots is becoming a hit record again thanks to viral dance crazes on Tik Tok. The short video social network owned by Chinese company ByteDance - Tik Tok - has fast become the home for music discovery making hits for Fleetwood Mac, The Weeknd and many more.
